Whether it’s print, online or over the air, Barbara is one woman who is never at a loss for words: fortunately, they’re usually the right ones.
What makes a great brand?
A great brand has the ability to connect with people and make them feel or think about themselves, their lives or their business in a way they never have before.
What do you like about working at an agency?
No two days are ever alike—or ever boring. I’m the quintessential multi-tasker and at my best under (reasonable) pressure and working on several projects at a time (which is pretty much every day at AW).
What inspires you?
The creativity of other people. I love when I share a creative strategy or concept I’ve developed with an art director or another writer and they take it in a direction that I would’ve never thought of—and it works!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
It’s not advice per se, but a line from a Zac Brown Band song that just speaks to me: “I’m gonna live like tomorrow never comes.” While I’m not a huge ZBB fan, I heard it at their Bethel Woods concert—I was there with my daughter and some friends—and it struck such a chord in me that I typed it into the “notes” on my phone. (No small feat on a slanting hill in a sold-out crowd.)
What real or fictional person would you go on a road trip with?
It’s a toss-up between Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise and Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I’m seriously navigationally challenged and I’m thinking that since each seems to always find what they’re looking for with little difficulty (whether it’s an out-of-the-way planet or food truck), I’d be in good hands. Besides, who doesn’t love William Shatner or a great burger?
